Market Square, a German Christmas market

Back to the Lane

Market Square

Half-timbered houses stand round a cobbled square. The town hall has 24 windows, and one more lights each evening in December, at 6 o'clock. In the middle stands a candle pyramid you can ride: warm air from the candles turns the blades at the top, and the blades turn the carved figures. Ride it to the top and look over the whole square.

Walk with W A S D or the arrow keys, and drag to look. On a phone, drag the left half of the screen to walk and the right half to look. Tap a window to open its day.

The entrance postcard is a photochrom print from the Library of Congress, public domain. Every other picture is drawn in code. Bible verses are the World English Bible, public domain.
